(singing) I Wanna Be I Wanna Be Like Mike!

For all you sneaker heads out there, this was a monumental day for your collection. The Air Jordan XX3 went on sale today, but probably not to the same huge crowds one has come to expect with Jordan releases. In an unprecedented move to honor the most popular number ever worn by an athlete, only 23 stores nationwide received 23 pairs of the 23rd edition of the Air Jordan shoe…and they’re going for $230.00!

"The Air Jordan XX3 is deeply meaningful to me, as a celebration of both my life and career. The number 23 is obviously of great significance to me and the release of the XX3 is a pinnacle moment in the Brand’s history,” said Michael Jordan in a release from Nike. “I’m honored and humbled by the Air Jordan franchise’s loyal following after all these years. The release of this shoe is exciting and a dream come true for me.”

The first pair of Jordan’s were released in 1985 and since then the shoe has revolutionized not only basketball, but young men’s fashion. Air Jordan has easily been one of the most successful brands of the last two decades, and it’s dominance in shoe stores is just another example of the legendary greatness that Michael Jordan brought to the game. Congrats on 23 years of excellence!!
