Sayounara Asian Village

To My Detroit Residents: If you don't know by now, Asian Village is closed. After just a year, the nearly $5 million restaurant operation has officially shut down. It was a pretty popular venue on the weekends from what I hear. It wasn't reported exactly what the cause was, but one can only assume that the struggling economy played the most significant role. The restaurant may have also lost potential business when it's offerings changed for a more upscale experience. The coffee shop and the Asian themed food court were closed, and the restaurant, Fusia, changed its menu. I wouldn't be surprised if the MGM and the new Motor City Casino was taking a lot of business away from Asian Village as well.

Nevertheless, that's one less thing to do in downtown Detroit. Please start going to the new spots in the city folks. Detroit needs all of its new businesses to flourish or they won't be around for more than a year (plus I need stuff to do when I come home).
