Sibling Rivalry

This story really bothered me when I read it. Martin Luther King III and his sister, Bernice King, are suing their brother, Dexter King. The two allege that Dexter King, who controls their father's estate, took money for "his own benefit." In addition, the suit also alleges that Dexter "wrongfully" took money from their mother, Coretta Scott King's estate.

Bernice King is the administrator on their mother's estate, and the lawsuit says she is "entitled to immediate possession" of any transferred funds. Even though Dexter controls Dr. King's estate, his sister and brother are shareholders and the suit says he "wrongfully appropriated assets."

I hope there is some sort of justifiable explanation for this, and that the suit gets settled smoothly.

  1. Isn't it great that Black Folks finally have something worth fighting over. I think they should put it on TV like the Hiltons and have people vote on it like American Idol.

In all seriousness this was bound to happen. You have children living on the legacy and money from their father. Why haven't they built their own foundation for themselves. It's really sad to see someones children not improving on what their parents made.

I guess Dexter thought he would be King for a day!
