Stevie Gets His Props

Soul Music Icon Stevie Wonder has been selected as the honoree of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. This award honors those artists "whose creative output transcends distinctions between musical styles and idioms, bringing diverse listeners together, and fostering mutual understanding and appreciation," says Librarian of Congress James Billington. This is only the second time that this prestigious award has been given, the first having been delivered to Paul Simon. Wonder will be honored on February 23rd, 2009 and will be creating a musical composition to celebrate the honor. "It's an immense privilege to join such a remarkable roster of musicians and composers," Wonder said. "I am touched to receive this honor, and look forward to creating music for the celebration."

Give it up for Stevie, cause He is still a Wonder.
