Evolution Before Our Eyes: Virgin Shark Birth ???

CNN reports that the second case of a virgin birth among sharks has been documented in a Virginia Aquarium with a Blacktip shark. Known as parthenogenesis, the virgin birth constitues that absolutely no male genetic material was ever in contact with the Aquarium tank in question. The first case of this phenomenon occured in Omaha, Nebraska. Unlike most large shark liters, both occurences of parthenogenesis brought forth only one pup, thus not providing a clear solution to the declining global shark population. Yet and still, this provides an incredible situation for modern science and makes me believe that we might be witnessing modern day evolution. First Wall Street, now virgin births!! This World is Crazy!
