Think you can just ask whatever you want when you're in the classroom? If you're in Afghanistan, think Again! This 24 yr. old journalism student just got 20 years in an Afghan prison for asking questions about women's rights under Islamic principles. What makes that crazier is that the 20 year sentence came after he appealed the first decision brought against him...the death penalty! Parwez Kambakhsh was found guilty of blasphemy after the death sentence appeal, and plans on appealing the 20 year sentence to the Afghanistan Supreme Court.
With all the crap going on in this country, stuff like this makes you appreciate our laws and policies. To read more click here.
