Dumb Ass Quote of the Day:

"Oh wait! Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters! Without them we'd still be in Africa. We wouldn't be here to get this ice and tattoos." ~Soulja Boy

Call him young. Call him uninformed. Call him funny. I'll call him a coon! This is the absolute coonest trash I've heard come out the mouth of a young black man (and I've heard some coonery). Soulja Boy made this disrespectful statement on BET's Black Carpet (don't even get me started on their corporate cooning). He was asked in an interview, who he hated the most in history (wtf type of interview question is that...only on BET). The question kinda threw him off, so the interviewer made some suggestions, one of which was slave masters. Soulja Boy then took it upon himself to send a "shout out" to the slave masters because they're the reason we can get ice and tattoos. ICE AND TATTOOS!!!

I am not a fan of Soulja Boy's music, but I've always said I can respect him for doing him without being influenced by critics. But this has nothing to do with whether he can rap or not. I can't defend somebody who says something this blatantly ignorant. Maybe he doesn't know what a slave master is. Maybe he's not sure exactly how the "ice" he's so thankful for is still connected to Africa. It might even be possible that his music affected his brain worse than it did the rest of the world. Whatever the reason, between "Marco Polo" and this slave masters comment, Soulja Boy just set us back 30 years.
