Is Mike Vick Worth $10 million?

He sure thinks he is. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback is hoping to earn as much as $10 million a year or more, according to court filings in his bankruptcy case.

It's already going to be a stretch for him to get signed to a team again. Not just because his skills have been stalled while in jail, but also because he's a PR nightmare. But, how he thinks he's going to come out of 9 months of jail workouts and prison food, and get back to a game shape that allows him to make $10 million a year is beyond me.

Best of luck to him though. When he's done with this whole situation, I just hope he stays out of trouble.

First It Was Peanuts... Now Pistachios!

1 million pounds of roasted pistachio products have been recalled from a California food plant due to possible salmonella contamination. CNN reports that the pistachios "were largely distributed in 2,000-pound containers to food wholesalers who would then package them for resale or incorporate them as ingredients in other products, such as ice cream and trail mix." This recall is preventative and so far there have been no accounts of sickness, but the FDA is advising consumers not to eat any pistachio products.

It is safe to say its time to fall back on nuts for a minute.

A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words... or $62,500!!!

One of the first photographs in existence sold for $62,500 at Sotheby's auction house in New York. The photo that depicts a New York country estate, now known as Broadway, is a 5.5-by-4-inch, black and white daguerreotype. A daguerreotype is an image that is directly exposed to a polished surface of silver with a coating of silver halide and particles deposited by vapor, giving it a reflective finish.

I can only image what this picture will be worth in 20 years. I am sure whoever purchased this photo actually made a killing by getting it for roughly $62,000. Makes me want to snap a couple pictures, lol.

The Obamas Turn Down $100,000

The Obamas have decided to turn down a great deal of federal funds that would provide for redecoration of the private residence and Oval office of The White House. The Obama family has decided to use their own funds for sprucing up The White House instead of the proposed $100,000 federal budget. Funds are made available to each President to revamp their living quarters and the Bushes did their fair share of redecorating. Former President Bush replaced the carpet in the Oval office with a design by Laura Bush that cost a whopping $60,000! Obama aides state that President Obama is content with the carpet and has no plans on replacing it. I respect that fact that in the midst of an economic crisis, The Obamas are taking the appropriate measures to cut back as well.

Michelle Obama...the Superheroine?

First Lady Michelle Obama will be on her way toward becoming a real life Superwoman next month when a biographical comic book arrives on newsstands. The comic is part of the "Female Force" series showcasing powerful female leaders. This issue will chronicle Michelle's upbringing, college years, and how she helped Barack reach the white house.

Issues featuring Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sold out immediately upon their release earlier this month. The publisher of "Female Force" believes that the Michelle Obama edition will be even bigger than the Clinton and Palin editions, which are already on their second printings. The comic book will be released April 25 and will sell for $3.99.

Make sure you pick one up, it's definitely a collectors item.

Tech Fresh: OnLive

Nintendo Wii better be on its toes because there's a new gaming system coming that is sure to provide some healthy competition. Introducing OnLive, a small set-top box, not much bigger than a Nintendo DS, which will plug into your TV and your home broadband connection. From there you can stream games directly into your television set in a way similar to streaming videos on YouTube.

There is no install time and no waiting for downloads. You'll have the ability to play the same games you'll find on Xbox 360, PS3 or a home PC. Because the OnLive box will be connected through your broadband service, the video games will only play as smooth as your internet connection allows it to, so upgrade yourself and lose the dial-up.

OnLive has signed gaming deals with some heavy hitters including, EA, Take-Two, and Ubisoft. The system is set to release this winter. Click here to read more about OnLive.

Would You Pay to Use the Carpool Lane?

If you've ever sat in traffic on I-85 during rush hour (from about 3:00pm-8:00pm) in Atlanta, then this may interest you a tad. The Georgia Dept. of Transportation has granted Georgia $110 million dollars to convert HOV lanes into HOT Lanes.

Carpoolers will still be able to use the lane for free, but single drivers would have the option of driving in the lane for a fee. Users will open an account, put a small electronic device on their dashboard and as they enter the HOT lane sensors up and down the median of I-85 deduct the amount.

They're still mulling over amount that will be deducted and how much that deduction would change depending on time of day, day of the week, etc. There are also some holes left in figuring out how this will be enforced as far as the alphabet boys go.

As a single driver, would you use this?

Wedding Bells Are Ringing: Bruce Willis; Dave Letterman

Bruce Willis, 54, and model-actress Emma Heming, 30, were married this past weekend in a ceremony on the Turks and Caicos Islands. Willis and Heming have been dating for over a year and tied the knot in front of family, including Willis' ex-wife Demi Moore and her current husband young mogul, Ashton Kutcher.

Late night host David Letterman married his longtime girlfriend over the weekend as well. Letterman and Regina Lasko have been dating for 23 years and have one child together. Letterman joked on his show Monday night, "I had avoided getting married pretty good [sic] for, like, 23 years, and ... honestly, whether this happened or not, I secretly felt that men who were married admired me -- like I was the last of the real gunslingers."

Congrats to both set of newlyweds.

Shout out to Kobe Bryant and the students from Chicago based, Claremont Academy Elementary School and Parkside Elementary Community Academy. The kids designed the special Nike Zoom Kobe IV shoes in a project involving Nike and a program called After-School All-Stars. They used Nike's interactive Web site, which lets you choose shoe material, design and other features. The "Nike Venom" features snakeskin at the front and heel of the shoe in honor of Kobe’s nickname, The Black Mamba. Bryant wore the shoes this past Saturday, when the Lakers played the Bulls in Chicago.

Facebook Gets Flack

Ever since Facebook introduced a Twitter-esque home page platform, all I have seen are complaints consuming my newsfeed. Apparently this phenomenon is affecting more than just my network. A popular application that has polled users on the redesign, with over 90% voting in disapproval. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent an email to his employees stating that “the most disruptive companies don’t listen to their customers.”

Social Media journalist Ben Parr weighs in on the alternatives that Facebook can take to cool this fire:

1. Stay the course: Facebook says nothing, addresses nothing, and charges on with its bold plans to change how we use the social graph.

2. Issue assurances to the Facebook community: In my opinion, this is the most likely outcome. Mark Zuckerberg publishes a blog post on the Facebook blog explaining, once again, his vision for Facebook. The company places a note at the top of the homepage and asks, once again, for feedback and discussion from users. But in the end, they don’t change features.

3. Bring back some of the old homepage features: Facebook will not revert back to the old layout, but they might reincorporate some of the old features, such as events and applications, on the homepage. This is adding back some of the functionality Facebook lost.

** I personally am not bothered by the redesigned site, aside form the fact that I think Zuckerberg is jockin' Twitter. Honestly I think there will be an uproar anytime major changes are made to Facebook, but eventually people will just get acclimated.**
