Can Maxwell Comeback?

He's off to a smooth start with his new song Pretty Wings, from the upcoming album Black Summer's Night, which will hit stores July 7th.

What do you think of the song/video?

Is This Not The Best Series Ever!!!!???!!

I'm losing sleep watching triple overtime classics between the Bulls & Celtics. This is one of the all time greatest series I've ever seen. I don't like the Celtics at all and I didn't even know I liked the Bulls, but after 7 overtime periods, a million buzzer beaters, blocked last second shots, hard fouls, questionable refereeing and a lot of random clutchness, I officially don't want this to end.

I'm ride or die Lakers, but hats off to the Bulls and Celtics. Game 7, Saturday, winner take all.

Random Question of the Day:

Have you ever gotten into a relationship and noticed that more people tried to get on now that you're unavailable than when you were single and damn near desperate?

Why is it that people tend to get approached more when they're in a relationship than when they're not?

Fli Pelican New Release

In celebration of their release in St. Louis (@ SNKY) this weekend, Fli Pelican has previewed a new Air Yeezy t-shirt design. Looks pretty dope. Aaron Reid is seen in the shoot and rocking the new Black Yeezy's that drop this weekend as well. I might have to grab one of these tees.

I am not so sure about this one Burberry. I see where y'all were trying to take it, in my eyes it fell a little short of the mark. What do you think - are you on the fence on this one?

Sports Report: Nuggets 121, Hornets 63

The New Orleans Hornets just got murder, death, killed, in a 58 point smashing courtesy of the Denver Nuggets. The 58 points ties an NBA playoff record that stood unmatched for over 50 years until tonight. The Nuggets now lead the series 3-1 and I think it's safe to say they're going to be able to close it out during game 5 on Wednesday.

With the Number One Pick, The Detroit Lions Select...

Matthew Stafford just got slapped with a stack courtesy of the Detroit Lions. Apparently the recession and unemployment rate hasn't hurt the Lions pockets because they just drafted Stafford and signed him to a 6 year, $71 million deal, with $41.7 million guaranteed! Who needs the Federal Gov., bailouts on the Lions in '09.

For all my football fans, was this a good choice for the team?

Hoop Dreams Deferred

In an era where the NBA has enforced rules and age limitations to keep high school players from jumping straight to the league, Jeremy Tyler may have found a loophole that I hope doesn't turn into a trend. He will forgo his senior year of high school to play professional basketball in Europe before attempting to transition to the NBA.

I'm aware that the value of a dollar usually trumps the value of an education in the case of professional sports vs. college degree, but this is ridiculous. Nobody should drop out of high school to chase hoop dreams that many greats never reach, let alone a guy who I never heard of until this story broke.

Tyler said his decision came based on the lack of good enough competition for him to feel challenged. He believes that playing professionally overseas will better prepare him for the pros. His educational plan is to be home schooled and earn a GED while playing in Europe. His father is in full support and even encourages the decision.

These kids are growing up too fast. Forgoing college for the pros was risky because you bypassed a lot of development needed for the NBA, but dropping out of high school is unprecedented and risky. HIs father should be ashamed of himself for even entertaining this idea. I hope things go the way Jeremy Tyler thinks they will, because in this economy that GED will be pretty much worthless by the time he gets back from Europe.

You can lose that laptop case, this computer can slip in your pocket. The 8-inch screen, Sony Vaio P is not a notebook, but a "Lifestyle PC." The Vaio P runs Windows Vista, operates a standard 60GB hard drive and has an integrated 3G boradband. There is also a full 82 key QWERTY keyboard, and a webcam.

Even though its much smaller, the Vaio P will not be any cheaper than a larger traditional notebook, pricing in the $900 range. To read more about the Sony Vaio P click here.

Finance @ A Glance: Sixty Seconds Stock Synopsis Pt. 3

**In an ongoing weekly series, The Ant & Mike Show brings you the financial perspective of esteemed financial and accounting analyst, Ernest R. Fair. The Ant & Mike Show is going to help get you through this recession! **

The Dow ended up 109 pts on Wednesday and closed at 8029 pts. The market seems to have hit some resistance at 8000. I believe investors still remain cautious and concerned about tepid economic growth in the US. What does that mean for us? It means we should probably remain a bit cautious also. Although, the time to buy land is when there is blood in the streets. I’ve looking for a pop in the casino stocks, particularly, LVS and MGM. There has been talk over the past months about bankruptcy for these two stocks, but I think that the upside may be worth the risk. If you look at the 52 week highs on these two stocks, they were both above $60 approximately one year ago. They both are currently trading in the $5 and $6 range, respectively. All tourism is taking a hit this year, so I don’t expect earnings to turn around within the current year. If one, or both of them, can make it through this recession, they could see significant increases. Both stocks are trading below book value per share. A simple calculation of book value per share is stockholders equity (from the balance sheet) divided by total shares outstanding (usually located on the balance sheet). Book value per share is a representation of a fair price to pay for a stock. So if you compare your book value per share vs. the current stock market price, then you can determine if you are getting a bargain or paying a premium for the stock in question. Book value per share is just one example of the technical tools discussed by Warren Buffett’s market theories. This week I will go on to discuss the 4 major financial statements and what information they provide to investors.

If you have any specific questions you want me to address directly, make sure to comment. Last week I had a comment that referenced Fidelity 401ks. My employer uses Fidelity. The best fund I have seen in my plan is the FBR Focus fund (FBRVX). Before this past year, it had an average annual return of 18% and I believe it is exactly the type of fund that Warren Buffett would invest in.
