Random Question of the Day: Black TV - A Memory??
Now that the CW's "The Game" has been officially canceled, how do you feel about the fact that there is not one Black television show on a major network television station (Fox, NBC, ABC, CW, etc.) for next season?

Should Every U.S. Born Child Be Considered A Citizen?

Georgia congressman, Nathan Deal (R), is proposing a law that would take away automatic citizenship to babies born in the United States. As it stated in the 14th Amendment, anyone born on U.S. soil is granted birthright citizenship, but Congressman Deal says that automatic citizenship encourages illegal immigration. He proposes that the wording in the Amendment be changed to state that babies born in the U.S. would automatically have citizenship only if at least one of their parents is a U.S. citizen or national, a legal permanent resident of the U.S., or actively serving in the U.S. military.
What do you think about this proposal? Is it fair to the babies to be called illegal immigrants even if they are born in the United States?

Please Oh Please, Don't Let Me Catch You In This

The Nelson NBA Sleeveless Cardigans (that are actually vests), have to be one of the worst designs I've seen in a while. These almost feel like a joke, but the sad part is, they're real, and they're $245.
If you're interested in turning your life into a certified joke, order one from European clothier, colette.

R.I.P. Dolla

When 21 year old Roderick Anthony Burton II, aka Dolla was murdered Monday in Los Angeles, a cliched trend among young black men was proven to be alive and well. Too many of us die young and perish in senseless acts. So many young black men are taught to overindulge in things that become problematic when we hold them too high; like money and pride. There is no monetary value on anyone's life and there is no rationale behind this young man's murder.
During the early 90's anything from a "wrong" color, to having your hat face the "wrong" direction could have gotten you killed. I thought that by the time I grew up, that lack of value for the lives of young black men would have surpassed. Yet despite Million Man March after Million Man March, the inauguration of a black president, and nearly two decades worth of opportunities for growth, the collective of young black men still holds no accountability for their own lives or the lives of others.
My prayers go out to the family of both the victim and the suspect arrested in the killing, but going forward, my prayers go out to the young black men of this generation. Everyone of us deserves an opportunity to reach our potential and become something great. The difficult part is, for that to happen we have to survive in the same valueless world that Roderick Burton II and so many others lost their lives in.

Our First Lady is Finer Than Yours!

For the first time ever, a first lady has made the list of Maxim Magazine's Hot 100 list. Coming in at #93, Michelle Obama is badder than Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, Hilary Clinton and every other lady of the white house.
According to Maxim, "[President Obama] may be dealing with two wars, an economic meltdown, and a rapidly graying dome, but at least our Commander-in-Chief gets to come home to the hottest First Lady in the history of these United States."

Two More Reasons Not to Cheat:
A woman in Dallas had twins by 2 DIFFERENT FATHERS!! That's right, in what is being called a medical science miracle, twins were born as half brothers. I've always wondered whether something like this was possible, but I never thought I'd actually see it.
Please don't cheat on your spouse, but if you do, please don't get pregnant simultaneously and have a set of twins that have two different fathers. That's just ghetto!

Tech Fresh: DJ Hero

I think these "Hero" games are going to ruin the chances of anybody learning how to play a real instrument. The latest version from the massively successful franchise, is DJ Hero. Players will be able to mix and scratch an imitation turntable, while earning points on their way to victory.
Moving away from an all rock genre, DJ Hero will feature hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance music. Even doper, the game will allow players to create original mixes of songs so they can live out their dream of being Jam Master Jay, Kid Capri, and Jazzy Jeff. The game will be available on Wii, Playstation, and Xbox systems.
There is no word on the release date yet, but you can go to Dj Hero's website to sign up and be the first to know by email.

Oprah 1, KFC 0

By now I'm sure everyone has heard (and taken advantage) of Oprah offering a free grilled chicken meal at KFC. Well if you haven't redeemed your meal by now, you can pretty much forget about using the coupon by May 19. The restaurant chain will no longer honor the coupon because of the overwhelming response it got from Oprah's offer.
Customers complained about not being able to download the coupon because of extreme traffic to the website, restaurants running out of chicken, and some just simply not honoring the promise of the coupon. The restaurant took quite a hit, giving away the equivalent of $42 million worth of free meals.
KFC is promising to give out rain checks for the same free grilled chicken meal (with a beverage), to anyone who brings in their coupon by the 19th.

From My House to the White House

Most 11 year olds don't know too much about charity and social awareness, but Zach Bonner is not a typical pre-teen. Bonner is walking from his home in Florida all the way to Washington, D.C., to raise money and awareness about the plight of homeless children in America. He's already walked from Tallahassee to Atlanta and on Monday will enter the final leg from Atlanta to D.C.
In 2004, Zach walked around his neighborhood collecting perishable donations for victims of Hurricane Charley in his red wagon. He ended up collecting nearly 30 pick-up trucks full of items and afterward began his own registered nonprofit, Little Red Wagon Foundation, Inc.
For his efforts in 2004, he was able to meet former President George W. Bush, and is hoping to meet with President, Obama and urge him to take more action in alleviating homelessness amongst children in the U.S.
To see where Zach Bonner is during his journey to D.C., follow him at www.zachtracker.com

Bad Boys!

Man all my old school folks is passing. RIP to the big Detroit homie, former pistons coach Chuck Daly. Daly led the Bad Boy Pistons to back-to-back championships in 1989 & 1990, and he was also the head coach of the original dream team, which won gold in the Barcelona Olympics. Two years later, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
He was 78.
