Former Detroit mayor extraordinaire, Kwame Kilpatrick is sick of people in Detroit bothering him. Facing a possible return to jail later this month, Kilpatrick told the Dallas Morning News that he "has not been allowed to moved forward and the city has not been allowed to heal." He also said he thinks "it's time for everyone to move on."
Personally I think there has been an all out witch hunt on this dude since the texts heard round the world came out in 2008. Was he wrong...hell yea! I don't disagree that he should've been punished to the fullest extent of the law, but after serving jail time, being stripped of his ability to practice law, essentially being forced out of the city, and being required to pay $1 million in restitution to Detroit, I think he's had enough. Prosecutor Kym Worthy seems hell bent on taking him down for every dollar and ounce of pride he has.
Kwame disappointed an entire city and his affairs and shady leadership tactics helped to aid in the recent crippling of the Detroit economy. However, if the judge didn't see fit for him to get life in jail, then at some point we gotta let the man live freely.
