Are Bars A No SmartPhone Zone?

New research shows that young adults may be utilizing new extremes to prevent the dreaded cracked iPhone screen or stolen smartphone due to a drunken night at the bar. Chief Consumer Officer at media agency Starcom MediaVest Group, Laura Krajecki shares with Ad Age that her agency is conducting research in the area of smartphone habits as it relates to nightlife. "In studying beer, we started to discover that young adults cherish their smartphones and iPhones so much that they don't want to lose them if they have an epic night out. Now they take what they call their "drunk phone," a cheap low-end phone, so now they are carrying two phones because they don't want to lose their smartphone."

This is an interesting observation of human behavior but I personally think this may be a cultural thing. Many people in the 21-30 category view their phone as a status symbol in addition to being addicted to the applications and features of the data-rich smartphone. Do you have a "drunk phone"? Can you make it without your iPhone for a night on the town? Let us know your take on this.
