A Word of Advice: Stop Sexting!!

I'm sure by now you've seen the pics of my bald-headed boo and her bald-headed parts. These aren't the first pics of Amber Rose to hit the net but they're definitely the most graphic. The two-fingered text messages sent 'round the world has cost Amber her representation by uber-talent agency CAA and has let down many of the girls who "look up to her" [her words, not mine].

Don't worry Amber...you're not the first celebrity, pseudo-celebrity, or basic yamp off the streets to have a naked pic of yourself leak. Plenty of women, and men (I'm pointing at you Eddie Long and Anthony Wiener) have made the mistake of sending not so private pics of their most private parts to other people. Sometimes the pics are sent to a current boyfriend/girlfriend just to keep things spicy. Maybe you send them because you're far away from each other and you want to show the other person what they're missing. Or maybe you send them because, well, somebody said send me a picture.

Whatever the reason, who you sext is your business. But whether you're a politician, a celebrity, or just someone with a bunch of friends on Facebook and Twitter, once you sext, you've officially put yourself at risk. If those pics get in the wrong hands, you can lose a career, and a relationship in the flip of a phone.

My solution: Stop Sexting!! It hurts me to say it. I've gotten plenty of wonderful pics sent to my phone in my day, but enough is enough. There are people out here using good sexting to hurt other people. Those pics of Amber Rose should've been stared at, used at that persons discretion and put away in a T-Mobile vault, never to be seen again. Instead, Amber is out of a job and I had to create a secret folder in my iPhoto app.

Just stop sexting. If a person wants to see you, send a pic of your face. If they wanna see you do something freaky, Skype it so they never have physical possession of your naughtiness. I'm a fan of everybody finding their inner whore, but if that hoe is in your cell phone don't pick up!

There's a common phrase in the social media world right now that simply says, "Hoes be winning". While it might cause you to snicker a little bit, there's some truth in the statement.

Women always like to consider themselves ladies in the streets and freak's in the sheets. The problem is you're not as freaky in the sheets as you'd like to think. Somewhere along the line it became commonplace to think that simply having sex with a man was enough to leave him satisfied. But men don't always want to be JUST satisfied. Any chick on the streets with a working vagina can leave us satisfied. Sometimes we want to be wowed.

It may sound unconventional, but I'm suggesting leaving that prude, vanilla, self conscious about her body, chick outside the bedroom and inviting in that inner-whore. You want these hoe's to stop winning? You want them to stop texting your man in the middle of the night? You want those pics of naked women to stop coming through to his phone? Then dammit release your inner-whore!

Men have to release our inner-porn star from the first time we have sex with a woman...why? Because if we don't there may not be another chance. From 1st base to home plate, a man has to worry about leaving an impression. Did she fake it? Was the timing good? Was I too rough? Was she really mad I pulled her weave? Could she have used a V8?

Men have to bring out nearly everything in the arsenal right away because we're looking to do this again and we'll be damned if it doesn't happen because we don't do "that". But women have no such worry. You all can just mosey on in the bedroom lay down, let us do all the work and then complain that we're sweating too much. You can hide behind lines like "I only do that for my boyfriend" or "I don't want you thinking I'm a freak". Well news-flash, freaky time is the best time to be freaky. Men understand that, and so do hoes.

You think we like messing with hoes? Nope. They like to hold terrifyingly long conversations about non-hoe stuff. They occasionally get the girlfriend itch and put the hoeing on standby until we take them to Cold Stone. It's annoying and completely un-hoe like. Oh but when they're hoeing they can move mountains, money, ministers and mayors! They'll do all the freaky things you scoff at for none of the dates and half the effort.

So be that freak in the sheets you've always talked about. Find your inner-whore and embrace her. Stop thinking your man should be happy he got some at all. Stop thinking that being impressive in the boardroom is the only room that matters. I don't recommend promiscuity, but I do recommend losing the prude inside you. Hoes aren't afraid to round 3rd base and approach home plate with conviction to score, meanwhile you're sitting at 1st base waiting on a 90-day rule to kick in before you wow him with some missionary.

And you wonder why hoes be winning...

Yes you read that right. There is a website currently being built where parents will be able to upload pictures and video's of their babies doing the most precious things, like smiling with no teeth, drooling on things, and wearing every outfit they get dressed in every single day. The parents will even be able to update every single status so that you know all of their kids milestones AS THEY HAPPEN!!!

Wait why does this sound familiar? Because you thirsty ass parents have already turned Facebook into the damn daycare center. When they said it takes a village to raise a child, they meant your family, your neighbors and your closest friends, not the 1,000 people you went to high school and college with who don't even remember you by name. I am so tired of seeing other people's children on Facebook, I'm about to have one myself just so my baby can fight their baby!

Look I love kids; I think they're awesome, I think they're a blessing, I think they're downright adorable. But I don't need to see your kid so much that I feel like I'm related to yall. It's so many babies in my newsfeed I'm scared that the cops might get suspicious. It's to the point that you gotta call your friends baby to see how their mama is doing.

The next time I see one of my social media friends out with their baby don't be alarmed if I walk up and hug the kid first. Hell, I see the baby so much on Facebook I might pick her up and ask how is my god-baby doing. If you would've put his/her pictures in a photo album like normal parents, it never would've come to this.

And no...BabyBook is not a real thing.

The Jokes On You GOP!

The Republican Leadership Conference was a regular old Kings of Comedy tour stop when Barack Obama impersonator Reggie Brown took the stage. As he mocked President Obama and recently resigned congressman Anthony Weiner, the room was laughing like Mike Epps was hosting the conference. The comedian told plenty of racially charged jokes, and sexually themed humor was plentiful, but when he started to mock members of the republican party, some of whom are current presidential hopefuls, that's when the GOP had enough!

After a few jokes about Mitt Romney, tea party supporters, and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, they kicked Reggie Brown's black ass out like they were Stacey Dash and he just said he didn't "dine on southern cuisine"! Brown's microphones were cut off, music began playing and they damn near brought the sandman out to escort this dude off the stage.

I don't know why any of this was thought to be appropriate in the first place at a "leadership conference" but if Republican's plan on bringing more of these Fox News antics to the 2012 election, I think it's safe to say "Yes We Can" again. Now send me another stimulus check Pres!

It's FATHER'S DAY Dammit!!!!

I might be a day late, but I want to voice my frustrations with the way Father's Day gets treated among the black community. If you were anywhere near Facebook or Twitter yesterday, I'm sure you saw the countless tweets and statuses from scorned children and baby mamas. The way some of these women were talking you would've thought it was devil worship day!

I understand that a lot of children in black households don't grow up with their father around. I also get that a lot of black men don't always do the best job at maintaining a good relationship with the mother of their child. But not everybody experienced that type of upbringing. While I don't fault anyone for having ill feelings for an absent father or neglectful baby daddy, but do those frustrations really need to be broadcasted on the one day that good father's are supposed to be celebrated?

Then for the baby mama's mad because their childs father aint sh*t, I got a harsh truth for you; he probably wasn't much of sh*t during the period he was just your boyfriend. Why have a baby with a man who's already shown you he could care less about your feelings? Having a child is not a relationship lifeline, it's a life long commitment that you better try damn hard to make with someone who is at least man enough to hold up their end of the bargain even if your relationship ends.

Father's Day is not a sequel to Mother's Day. It's a day to find that uncle, brother, neighbor, teacher, coach or, God willing, your own dad and tell them thank you for being the man in your life. And if you happen to be one of the people who can't relate to having an influential man in your life, then for the sake of all the good dad's, find a better medium to vent your frustrations and let these men have their day. They earned it.

Question of the Day: Is It Cheating?

In light of a conversation I had with a friend of mine recently, and the ongoing, unraveling, scandal involving congressman Anthony Weiner, I wanted to pose a question: Is sending lewd pictures of yourself to someone else while you're in a relationship considered cheating or harmless flirting?

Personally, I think it's super cheating. I can't imagine myself in a situation where I find out that my girlfriend/wife sent pics of herself in her underwear (or less) to some dude and I'm like "aww babe that was so inappropriate". I'm gonna be like get ya cheatin', hoe'in, lyin', stankin' ass out of my life!!! Too much? Ah, well.

Anyway, tell us what you think --Is it wrong to send pics to somebody else while you're in a relationship, or are you gonna say you were innocently posing in the mirror fresh after a workout with a tight shirt on (I'm looking at you, Eddie Long.)?

Let Those Folks Get Married Sheesh!

Currently, five states -- Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire -- along with the District of Columbia, grant same-sex marriage licenses. We may soon be able to add another one to that list.

A new bill has been proposed that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state of New York. Should it pass, The Marriage Equality Act would grant gay couples equal rights to marry in addition to other benefits and protections that are currently only available to heterosexual married couples.

Obviously this bill has a long way to go through the proper channels before it is legalized, but it goes without saying that this would be an extraordinarily big step forward in the ongoing fight for gay rights. Personally I'm in full support of the act. If same-sex couples want to make the ultimate relationship commitment, I really don't understand the resistance.

The institution of marriage is being made a mockery by heterosexual couples everyday. Whether it's through infidelity, extra-marital children, or the extremely high (and consistently rising) divorce rate, heterosexual marriages have turned into a sham. Most couples treat their vows like a freestyle they spit when they were drunk and now they can't remember the hardest line they said; for better or worse...as long as we both shall live (BARS!!!). These days it's inspiring to see couples passionate enough about their relationships that they fight to make them a part of their everyday civil liberties.

Your Thought's: Drake "Marvin's Room"

Let's get things straight early, I think Drake is dope. He's obviously gifted and his presence in music was as refreshing and necessary as ever. But as much as I'm a fan of what he can do with a pen, I'm not always moved when it hits my speakers.

When listening to his latest web sensation, Marvin's Room, I can't help but feel a little blah about it. It's not that the content isn't dope, but that the sound of it feels like everything I've heard from Drake over the last year. Drake's sound a year ago was unique but I remember feeling like when he dropped a second album I was going to need to hear something different to be excited about it. Even though Marvin's Room isn't an official single, I'm already concerned about Drake's next project sounding like Thank Me Later II, which would be terrible because Thank Me Later sounded like So Far Gone II.

I'm really into artist growth. Listening to Reasonable Doubt isn't like listening to the Blueprint or the Black Album. I know Drakes next project will only be his second so obviously he has plenty of time for album comparison's but I'd love to see him start taking some risks musically. I'd like to see him switch his rap style up. Give me something unexpected like when B.I.G. did Notorious Thugs. Do a full R&B album and really test your range vocally. I just don't want to keep hearing different versions of "Fireworks" and "Find Your Love" for his whole career.

"Live the phrase sky's the limit..."

One of the things about life is it has a tendency to get away from you. It's easy to get caught up in the day to day trappings of going to work, school, and whatever other combinations of different obligations you have.

For anybody reading this, I want you to step back and figure out what you can be doing on a daily basis to make sure you're genuinely happy. Going to work and finishing a tough project is great but your sense of accomplishment would probably be greater if you read that book you've been wanting to read, or joined that charity you're interested in.

Most people's dreams have nothing to do with the desk they sit behind or the clock they're punching. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with making an honest living, there's just something about spending time doing what you really want to do that can relieve you of the worries of the world. It's following those internal passions that led to some of the worlds most successful people. Your thoughts might consist of an NY Times Bestseller or an award winning script if you take time for yourself and write them down.

If there's an instrument you'd like to learn, a meal you'd like to cook, or memoirs you'd like to pen, do it; and if you can't do it, work toward it. Finishing that book you've been putting off might inspire you to write your own. Make sure you do something everyday to separate yourself from your 9-5. You only get one life, but you're fortunate enough to get as many dreams as you allow. Do yourself a favor and spend time trying to realize them; you'll find happiness in trying.

Question of the Day: What's a Deal-breaker in the Bedroom?

You may or may not have seen last nights episode of Single Ladies on Vh1. Maybe you missed it because there isn't one good actor/actress anywhere near this show. But if you're anything like me, then looking at Stacey Dash every week is enough to draw you in even on a bad night.

Last night's episode posed an interesting scenario. Stacey Dash's character was making out with a guy while simultaneously talking freaky about sexual acts to be had later (after her 3 month rule was up...that's a whole 'nother conversation). As the guy (played by Darrin Dewitt Henson, who you might know from this clip) starts to talk freaky about kissing lower on Stacey Dash's body, he stops just short of reaching her woman parts.

Much to her dismay, she asked him to turn his verbal fantasy back toward her nether region, and that's when he hit her with a rude awakening: He doesn't do "that". Long story short, the make-out session got stopped and he got kicked to the curb.

All of this leads to my question: If someone you're dating says up front that they aren't willing to perform oral sex on you, is that a deal-breaker?

Dallas Mavericks, NBA Champions!!!

Congratulations to 2010-2011 NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks. On a night where it seemed like Dirk had lost all the magic he'd showed throughout the playoffs, Jason Terry, J.J. Barea and the rest of the Mavericks had his back as they took down the Miami Heat.

For players like Jason Kidd and finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki, this championship was the icing on the cake of two future Hall of Fame careers. For Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Lebron James, and the Heat, this will be a summer of what if's.

Whether it was Bosh crying like he lost a loved one, D Wade getting hurt, or Lebron being good when they needed him to be great, the Miami Heat missed out on a chance to back up the bravado they've showed since this current team was constructed last summer. The opportunities were there but Miami never seized them as the Mavericks proved to be the more resilient team.

Congrats again to Dallas!

Random Question of the Day: The Grudge Edition

I was reading a friends Facebook status one day (shout out to Kalea), and she posed a very good question: Why are women so quick to forgive the men in your lives who do you wrong, but will hold a grudge with a woman forever?

I think it's an interesting question mainly because it's an honest one. I know too many ladies who are still with the guy that cheated on them, but will reach for a handgun the minute you mention the other woman's name. If you are one of these women, just know that the other woman fell for the same thing you fell for. Whether it was charm, looks, money, intimacy, or thirstiness, she's a victim of falling for the wrong guy at the right time.

Forgive and forget, but don't be dumb enough to misplace anger, and other harsh emotions toward someone who probably knew as much about you as you did about them.

But if the girl knew about you...whoop her ass everytime you see her in the street!

What The CLUCK?!?!?

The man behind the resurgence of reality show gluttony, and super cooning, has now taken it to another level. Flavor Flav is now the proud owner and operator of FFC...Flav's Fried Chicken. Yes you read that right, and yes it's true.

The ribbon cutting for the first FFC location in Clinton, Iowa happened yesterday. The menu includes Flav's specially seasoned chicken (with seasoning on the skin, not just in the flour), ribs, greens, and macaroni & cheese.

Of all the ventures he could have gotten into, did it really have to be this stereotypical? Next time you're in Clinton, Iowa I guess you can stop by Flav's. However, if you feel like you might leave out of the restaurant dressed in blackface, no worries...there's a KFC down the street.

MLK Memorial Nears Completion

On the heels of the birthday of one of America's most historic civil rights leaders, news has surfaced that the monument in dedication to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the historic site of the Washington Mall is nearing completion. Selected government officials were granted the opportunity to walk through the site on the national holiday and observance of Rev. King's birthday earlier this week. The monument, which will feature historic quotes and a three-story stone carving of King, is set to be unveiled in August 2011. See a miniature version of the monument below.

I hope that the unveiling of this monument is a huge celebration in not only the African-American community but the greater US population as a whole. Through funding issues and countless delays, this monument is now a reality and will stand as a symbol of equality and the dedication of an incredible human being who fought for our current state of affairs and that to come. I definitely plan to make the trek to D.C. for the public opening.

Who's Watching: The Game on BET

So in case you haven't seen the million marathon's, the billions of commercials, or the episode where that big dude offers to put Malik to bed (hilarious), The Game season 4 airs on BET tonight at 10pm.

If you know me then you know I would fight BET's entire staff on site (that include's you Debra Lee), but I can say that I'm really proud of them for picking up this show, and I hope it hasn't lost the quality and chemistry it had before it got cancelled.

This is guaranteed to be the biggest ratings night in BET history, so make sure you tune in and don't get left asking what all the fuss is about.

Where Are You: Brooke Valentine

No Pump Faking in 2011

Pump Faking is a term generally used in reference to a basketball move where a player pretends he is going to take a shot, so that he can get the defender off balance or get them to jump. Well it's a lot of you women out here pretending you are Michael Bryant James Jabaar with all the pump faking yall were doing in 2010. Don't try to fake like you're gonna do something just to see what we do next.

Let me break something down real quick. If a guy likes you, and you like him, stop pump faking that man!!! I'm not saying marry him tomorrow. I'm not saying be his girlfriend tonight. I'm not saying put all your cards on the table. I'm just saying keep it all the way real in 2011. If you like a guy, and every Facebook status and Tweet you post is about "where are all the good men", and all that mess, then why on earth would you play hard to get with a guy who you've already established is a good man and you have a mutual interest with?

For example: If we've been texting, talking and out on a few dates, and I say I'm going to be in your city for New Years Eve, wouldn't you think that that would be a good chance to at least catch up with me for dinner? Lunch? A pretzel? Don't do all the texting, phone caking, and Skyping and then when we get around each other try to pump fake to see what type of reaction you're gonna get so you can decide how you're gonna act.

Men might seem complicated, but certain things about us are just simple. We don't invest time in something we don't think is worth it. I have a million female friends, and I love them all, but I don't spend all day with them going out to eat, going to sporting events, going shopping and sitting at home watching movies. That's dating where I'm from. If a guy is spending that sort of time with you take that as a sign that he's into you enough for you to let down your guard just a tad. That doesn't mean go crazy and turn into a Stage 5 Clinger, but it does mean that you don't have to go so hard pretending that we're just friends, that you end up ruining the fact that something else was there.

Any man who wants you is willing to do a little chasing while you play hard to get, but at a certain point you have to ask yourself what you've done lately to keep him from getting tired of playing that game. Make sure your actions are consistent with those late night conversations and early morning messages. Dating is about give and take, but if you think you're gonna take up all our time, phone battery, and gas money, but then pull the "friends" card when it's time to give, just so you can protect your feelings you done lost your mind.

Stop pump faking these dudes out here. You might get us to jump a couple of times, but eventually we'll stop defending you and you'll be playing that game by your damn self.

Not These Two Again...SMH

I like T.I., and I used to have a crush on Tiny when she was in Xscape (whewwww glad I dodged that bullet). Until recently I thought they were the perfect hood couple. They held each other down in ways that only good hood couples hold each other down. They had an entire employee staff's worth of children before they ever got engaged/married. She stuck with him through the dope dealing, and the jail sentences. He stuck with her through the Tiny & Toya show (she better not let him catch any reruns though...divorce papers next to the remote!). But their last few months have taken them off my good hood couple list, and placed them on my list of dumb ass people.

I stayed quiet about the drug arrest when T.I. was on parole and preparing to release an album. But this most recent story just blows my mind. So Tiny went to visit Clifford, and apparently tried to give him a happy ending before she left.

I've been to visit plenty of folks in jail, I know it's an exciting and emotional time. But a hand job is not worth getting moved from general population, and possibly losing some visitation rights and other privileges...hell a hand job isn't worth much outside of jail. I don't know if she was really stroking the Tip (pun), or if they were just overzealous with a game of footsy, but it's time for somebody close to them, maybe one of the OMG Girls to tell them to "sit yall ass down".

I'm sure by now you've heard the story about Ted Williams, the homeless man with the amazing voice. Well if you haven't seen the video of him, don't worry, you may be hearing him soon enough. Kraft will air a new ad this Sunday for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese featuring Williams' voice.

In addition to the opportunity with Kraft, Williams said he will take a full-time position offered to him by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cav's not only offered him a job, but a representative also said they would pay his mortgage on a home through Quicken Loans (which is owned by Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert).

The Kraft ad will air Sunday night on ESPN during the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl game between Nevada & Boston College.

I could say I'm shocked, outraged, saddened, or disappointed by the verdict given to former police officer Johannes Mehserle, but honestly I'd be lying. Not because I'm not all of those things, but because anybody surprised by the fact that a white police officer can get sentenced to two years for killing an unarmed black man that he had lying face down on the floor of a public transit station, is delusional. Ask Rodney King, or the family of Sean Bell, or more recently the family of Oscar Grant how much you should believe in the criminal justice system when police are the criminals.

Grant was killed January 1, 2009 after officers responding to reports of a fight on a BART train determined he was one of the perpetrators. After being removed from the train along with several friends, officers detained Grant, and had him face down on the ground in an attempt to handcuff him. According to police, Grant resisted arrest and in an attempt to taze him, Mehserle mistakenly grabbed his gun and fatally shot 22 year old, father of one, Oscar Grant in the back. The account was caught on a camera phone and viewed by millions through various media outlets.

In July, Mehserle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, but acquitted of the more serious second degree murder and voluntary manslaughter charges. Yesterday Mehserle was sentenced to two years, with credit for time served, even though the judge had an option to add a gun enhancement charge that could have added 10 years to the sentence.

Naturally, black residents in Oakland are furious, and according to authorities, protestors are "tearing up the city." Those who believe situations like this are not as simple as black and white are as naive as they are hopeful. The world has come a long way in race relations, but there is no way that a black officer kills a young, well-to-do white man, and gets two years for it; people have gotten as much time for being caught with unregistered guns, and killing dogs.
Black people will never believe in a criminal justice system that continues to fail us. How many unarmed men have to be wrongfully beaten and or killed before police officers learn that black does not automatically equal dangerous?

Oscar Grant's family deserved better from our justice system. In a letter written after the verdict, Mehserle wrote, "For now, and forever, I will live, breathe, sleep, and not sleep with the memory of Mr. Grant screaming 'you shot me'...but I recall how sick I felt when Mr. Grant stopped talking."

As much as those last words from Oscar Grant may haunt Mehserle, he got to hear them. Oscar Grant's family got no such luxury.

Who Do You Believe In

Last time I checked, Eddie Long was a man on these streets. A man. Not a martyr. Not a savior. Not a saint. He's a man. While he may be more familiar with the word of God than most, he's still a man. Though he may seem to be more disciplined than most, he is still a man. Bishop Eddie Long is a man.

The accusations he's facing are not of my concern. Guilty or innocent, it's a sad situation and I wish the best to all parties involved. My issues aren't with Long's friends and family who are supporting him whether these accusations are found true or not. My problem lies with the staunch defenders who have placed Eddie Long on a pedestal of God-like proportions. This is a problem I've seen a lot in the "black church" since I was a kid. Too many people look at their spiritual leaders and see God, instead of a messenger.

Eddie Long, no matter how many Sundays he stands in that pulpit, will never be immune from imperfection, or temptation. He is no better or worse than any man or woman who resides in the church congregation. Every week, there is a drug dealer, a gang member, a homosexual, a down-low man, a prostitute, and a pimp sitting in a church somewhere and they are no different in Gods eyes than the man preaching to them. The demons that reside in the same people he councils, reside in him too.

People are afraid to humanize their spiritual leaders because it forces them to accept their own imperfections. When a man you think can do no wrong, possibly does something wrong, where does that leave you in the eyes of God? The answer: the same place you've always been. If you accept God and you're faithful in your beliefs, then you know that you are never more than a prayer away from forgiveness. The same goes for your spiritual leader.

Eddie Long, T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar, and Joel Osteen aren't any different from the hundreds of thousands of people they minister to. They walk into the church on Sunday with the same humility as the people who were clubbing, drinking, and having sex the night before. A church, when stripped of its title is only a building. A minister when stripped of his title is only a man. I don't know what Eddie Long has spent his money or his time doing, but I know that whatever sacrifices he's made in his life will never amount to dying for my sins. Jesus Christ did that, and the last time I checked, Eddie Long was no Jesus Christ. He's just a man.

6 Things You Shouldn't Reveal On Facebook

To all you social network fiends who like to update the entire internet on everything you do all day, here are a few things you may want to keep quiet according to Beth Givens, executive director of the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse:

1. Your Birth Date and Place

Sure, you can say what day you were born, but if you provide the year and where you were born too, you've just given identity thieves a key to stealing your financial life, said Givens. A study done by Carnegie Mellon showed that a date and place of birth could be used to predict most — and sometimes all — of the numbers in your Social Security number, she said.

2. Vacation Plans

There may be a better way to say "Rob me, please" than posting something along the lines of: "Count-down to Maui! Two days and Ritz Carlton, here we come!" on Twitter. But it's hard to think of one. Post the photos on Facebook when you return, if you like. But don't invite criminals in by telling them specifically when you'll be gone.

3. Home Address

Do I have to elaborate? A study recently released by the Ponemon Institute found that users of Social Media sites were at greater risk of physical and identity theft because of the information they were sharing. Some 40% listed their home address on the sites; 65% didn't even attempt to block out strangers with privacy settings. And 60% said they weren't confident that their "friends" were really just people they know.

4. Confessionals

You may hate your job; lie on your taxes; or be a recreational user of illicit drugs, but this is no place to confess. Employers commonly peruse social networking sites to determine who to hire — and, sometimes, who to fire. Need proof? In just the past few weeks, an emergency dispatcher was fired in Wisconsin for revealing drug use; a waitress got canned for complaining about customers and the Pittsburgh Pirate's mascot was dumped for bashing the team on Facebook. One study done last year estimated that 8% of companies fired someone for "misuse" of social media.

5. Password Clues

If you've got online accounts, you've probably answered a dozen different security questions, telling your bank or brokerage firm your Mom's maiden name; the church you were married in; or the name of your favorite song. Got that same stuff on the information page of your Facebook profile? You're giving crooks an easy way to guess your passwords.

6. Risky Behaviors

You take your classic Camaro out for street racing, soar above the hills in a hang glider, or smoke like a chimney? Insurers are increasingly turning to the web to figure out whether their applicants and customers are putting their lives or property at risk, according to Insure.com. So far, there's no efficient way to collect the data, so cancellations and rate hikes are rare. But the technology is fast evolving, according to a paper written by Celent, a financial services research and consulting firm.

This Week's Silly Negro: Dorothy Davidson

As a mayoral candidate, it's not typically smart to lie about celebrity endorsements. It's definitely not smart to photoshop the celebrity's wife out of a picture and poorly insert yourself in place of her. Yet that's what Dorothy Davidson's campaign manager did in an effort to get Bessemer, AL voters to support the councilwoman.

After University of Alabama officials said that coach Nick Saban was not contacted for any type of endorsement, and he hadn't posed for any picture with Davidson, she fired her campaign manager for the mishap. The problem with this is Davidson had already insisted that she posed for the photo with the National Championship winning coach. That is until she was shown the original picture that Saban took with his wife.

Davidson is still running for mayor, and the city of Bessemer will hold its elections this coming Tuesday. Before she sees that I wrote about her and starts talking to the streets, let me be clear: The Ant and Mike Show does NOT support Dorothy Davidson, stupidity, or bad photoshopping.

2010: The Year of the Mistress

In light of Fantasia's recent breakdown let me be the first to say her overdose, whether accidental or intentional, is no laughing matter. Combinations of pills to cope with problems are dangerous even if you don't intend on really hurting yourself. None of us really know whether Fantasia was trying to take her own life, but what we do know is the situation that led up to Monday's hospital admittance could have been avoided.

Then Again 2010 has been a different kind of year. The mistress has taken over the last leg of the decade like no other year before it. Fantasia is just the most recent case of mistress misbehavior. Like Alicia Beatz and Gabrielle "F*ck-A" Union before her, Fantasia's role as a mistress has kept her name flowing on news and gossip sources alike, and with her recent behavior, and music/television projects on the horizon, the timing couldn't be better.

First things first, on any planet, in any language, a married man is a married man. Yes there are many reasons not to get divorced; income and children come to mind. However, any man (or woman) saying they're separated is really giving you a big caution sign up front. That separated line usually is nothing more than a built in excuse for your conscience when you're doing something wrong. If Mediatakeout or Bossip can confirm that a man is still married, it's no way in hell I'm believing that Alicia Beatz or Fantasia didn't know their boyfriends had wives.

Speaking of their wives, why does nobody seem to care about them anymore once the cheating comes to light? They can't catch a break to save their lives. Fantasia's people called Dejuan Cook's wife a liar. Siovaughn Wade had to be moved out of Miami to make room for Gabrielle "Fuck-A" Union and Lebron, and Alicia Beatz used the BET awards as a personal forum to say "HI MASHONDA!!!!" It's like once the cheating is on the table, everyone accepts the mistress as the new chick and moves on. But where does the wife move on to? Back to Chicago with Siovaughn Wade and her two kids? To the closet where Fantasia takes her pills?

Sorry I digressed a little, but back to the mistress. I read an article the other day that said people were being harder on Fantasia than they had been on Alicia Beatz, because 'Tasia is the dark skinned mistress and Fancy Alicia is the light skinned mistress. This couldn't be further from the truth. Fantasia got blasted by mainstream media for breaking the number one rule of the 2010 mistress; she showed emotion!. The 2010 mistress doesn't give a damn about a blog. Did Gabrielle "F*ck-A" Union start poppin pills like Three Six Mafia when she was seen with Dwayne Wade over the last few years? Heck no! Did Alicia Beatz flinch when Mashonda started speaking to the public about the affair? Trick please! When the media, the courts, and the streets find out about your affair you plead the 5th and keep on moving.

2010 has proven two things, marriage is worth about as much as the U.S. dollar, and whether you've won Grammy's, American Idol, or...thinking....still thinking...damn Gabby you gotta win something...anyway, nobody's above being a mistress. Alicia Beatz hit the ultimate mistress peak by getting a wedding and a child out of a hit-making producer. Fantasia hit a new mistress low by trying to kill herself over the revelation that her cell phone selling boyfriend was married, and then again by filming their reunion for her reality show. And just like her career, Gabrielle "F*ck-A" Union is lingering somewhere in the middle with no kid, no ring, but a good ass time in Miami.

Bottom line, if you ever wanted to be a mistress now is the time to do it. You have three very prime examples to shape your mistress future. You decide what type of mistress you want to be. If you wanna get married, proceed with caution. People these days take those vows about as quickly as Fantasia took those pills...they don't think about what happens next!

Could Wyclef Really Lead Haiti?

Recently, Wyclef Jean announced he has submitted all necessary paperwork and will officially run for president of Haiti. The Hatian-born Jean, took his announcement all the way to "Larry King Live" after he traveled to Haiti to sign the papers.

I understand that Wyclef is passionate about his native country, but this seems like he's letting his emotions get the best of him. Haiti needs leadership, not a spokesperson. While I'm sure his face and voice can captivate the already struggling country, he can not use fame to rebuild the government infrastructure that got destroyed. The tasks at hand in Haiti would make even the most seasoned politician sweat, let alone a man who moved out of the country when he was a child and pursued a career in music.

I don't know what truth there is to him barely being in Haiti since the earthquake, or whether he mishandled money with his non-profit, but I do know that he seemed rattled when he was questioned about both instances. Politics will eat him alive if there is even a hint that he hasn't been as supportive to Haiti as he claims. Wyclef resigned as chairman of Yele Haiti, even though there was never evidence he misused funds. If he gets accused of something as president, he can't just step down and abandon the people who would be counting on him.

There are plenty of things that Haiti needs, but an inexperienced leader is not one of them. I do believe Wyclef's heart is in the right place. But if he wants to help, he should visit whenever he can and help out at the camps for misplaced citizens. He can continue to raise money for the country to help buy food and aid in rebuilding efforts.
Before anybody says I'm not supporting this man, or I'm hating on him, think about something. The U.S. has been in an economic mess for quite some time. We also experienced some very harsh natural disasters in recent years that have left entire regions struggling. I guarantee nobody in this country would elect a president with absolutely no political experience to lead us back to prominence. The same should go for Haiti. Haiti's next president will oversee billions of dollars meant to aid the country. If Wyclef flinched when asked about the 400k his charity raised for Haiti, what will he do when some of those billions get lost in translation?

While I applaud Wyclef for wanting to help clear the smoke from the devastation that Haity suffered, I think his help would be better utilized on the ground than in the capitol building.

This weekend The Ant & Mike Show had the privilege of covering the 1st Annual ONE Music Fest featuring Goapele, De La Soul and Common. Not only was ONE an incredible concert that featured national and local acts, it was a cultural cross-section that was complete with the nation's top DJs, interactive games and a multitude of street vendors.

The summer heat and the Atlanta westside backdrop provided the perfect landscape for the ONE Music Fest. Ant & I were busy conducting interviews in the Media Tent, but we made sure to get out in the event and check out the dope performances on both the 2nd and Main Stages. The event could be described as a huge block party that featured some of the nation's premier DJs, including Mick Boogie, DJ Kemit & DJ Wreckineyez. Goapele got the main stage warmed up after a slight rain delay. She introduced the crowd to new music from her upcoming release, Milk & Honey, as well as some of her fan favorites such as "Closer". De La Soul took the crowd back a decade with some of Hip-Hop's most memorable records such as "Me, Myself & I" and "Saturdays". Common served as the headliner of the night and took the attendees on musical journey though his expansive catalog of hits. The crowd was treated to a five minute freestyle, as well as classic records like"The Light" and "I Used to Love H.E.R."

New Spike Lee Documentary Takes On Oil Spill

Acclaimed director Spike Lee has revisited New Orleans and filmed the follow-up to "When the Levees Broke," his dynamic four act take on the devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina. The new film, "If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise," picks up with the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl victory and will chronicle the impact of the BP oil spill on those who hadn't fully recovered from Katrina.

"If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise" will be airing this month on HBO.

The Sean Bell Story: When Will The Disrespect End?

Gunned down a mere 24 hours before you were to be married. In seconds, over 50 shots fired. 3 men injured. One dead. This is the story of Sean Bell. A story heard many times before. Different circumstances, different names, but the same story. A broken record of injustice that plays out in cities across the US. Sean Bell’s story comes to an end this week as his estate and the city of New York reached a settlement over his unjust death. Sean’s family and friends received a sum of 7.15 M that will be divided amongst his a fund established for his children and his friends who were also injured that night. Despite the gravity of the circumstances surrounding this murder, a top NYC police union official had the audacity to release a statement admonishing the settlement amount and placing blame on Bell for the outcome of the shooting. Detectives Union President Michael Palladino was quoted as saying "The settlement was excessive and disregards Sean Bell's actions and culpability." He went on to call the settlement “an absolute joke” and claim that Bell was intoxicated and played a role in his demise. William Bell, father of the fatally wounded groom, responded to the comments by saying, "He thinks life is a joke…I don't think life is a joke."

I am not sure what planet Palladino is from, but usually when one is taking part in a bachelor party there is an expectation of a few drinks. Does that grant a racist task force the right to release 50 rounds and end a life prematurely? Does it warrant the three officers involved in the slaying being acquitted of manslaughter and reckless endangerment? I say no. The fact that Palladino feels this conduct was warranted should put his judgment and position in question. I feel the Bell family deserves this settlement and much more. Sean Bell is gone and not 7 million or 100 million will bring him back to life. This settlement is one note of justice in the resounding broken record of injustice everywhere.

Black & White: Essence Gets Caught In The Race Game

Essence Magazine has incited a race debate in the fashion and periodical landscape with one simple hire. Shockwaves were sent through the black fashion world Wednesday when Essence announced the hiring of Elliana Placas, a white woman, as Fashion Editor of the magazine dedicated to black women. Former Essence staffer and Hip-Hop activist Michaela Davis voiced her disdain for the selection on her Facebook page and has since been interviewed by Anderson Cooper on this issue. Davis’ position, as stated to CNN, is "the fashion industry is not diverse -- it is an elite, closed world and there is very little place for black women. At Fashion Week, there was one seat for Essence. One. Black women's image and beauty has either been ignored or defiled and that one seat should be filled by someone who can represent the style, history and body type of black women." Editor-In-Chief Angela Burt-Murray stands behind the hiring of Placas. "I got to see firsthand her creativity, her vision, the positive reader response to her work, and her enthusiasm and respect for the audience and our brand. As such, I thought she'd make an excellent addition to our team. And I still do. This decision in no way diminishes my commitment to black women, our issues, our fights."

The question has been posed whether deliberately appointing a black fashion editor is reverse racism. And we all know the answer is yes. The need for reverse racism had been placed upon African-American entities that were forced to create opportunities where none existed previously. I agree with Davis’ position that Essence created a stake hold as “the” Black women’s magazine and in that position certain expectations have been attributed to the brand. But ultimately, we know that the basis of employment should be based on qualifications and not race. I hope and expect that Essence did their due diligence in looking for qualified candidates of all races for the fashion editor position. If Placas was the best fit for the position then she deserves the post, whether she is black, white or green.

I like Irv Gotti, I promise I do. I think he has an eye for talent that may not always be obvious. I also respect a lot of his contributions to music during the early and middle parts of the decade. But he may have just killed all possible credibility going forward.

In an interview with Vibe magazine gotti said
The world has yet to see the best of Nicki Minaj. What she's delivering to the world now is basically what they want. But I know she's a super talented superstar who can do anything at a high level---rap, sing, act, whatever she wants to do. This is just the beginning of Nicki Minaj. Her best is yet to come. In my opinion she is as talented as my other girl Lauryn Hill. They have completely different styles. But as far as talent is concerned they both can do it all. Nicki just isn't showing it yet 'cause she doesn't want to. But world be prepared 'cause she's the truth.
Excuse me while I call the police on this ninja! I'll give him his credit for saying everything he needed to to make his statement sound neutral. But really Irv??!?!? Nicki Minaj is as talented as Lauryn Hill? The only thing they have in common is estrogen. Nicki Minaj couldn't stand in a cypher and spit with Lauryn Hill if she tried to. Lauryn would throw a dreadlock at her a$$. And don't even get me started on the singing. That "Your Love" song will not be netting Nicki any Grammy's this year or next. While we have yet to see her acting chops, I'll go ahead and put $20 on it that Lauryn wins that one too.

Nicki is talented enough to have gained some fans, but talented enough to be compared with one of the greatest musical talents of this generation? Hell naw Irv!! Hell naw!

Once you've gotten to know each other though, that's where the hard part begins. It's easy to put a smile on someone's face but it's hard to keep it there

What?!? Women Don't Like Dudes In Skinny Jeans and Ed Hardy?

In a recent poll on Yahoo's Shine website, women were asked for the Top 10 worst fashion choices men make. The overall winner (or loser) was Ed Hardy. 21% of women said they hated the biker tattoo looking shirts. Skinny jeans was also in the top 10, though if I had a vote, I would wish these away first...for the sake of manhood.

Also making the list were baggy jeans, sandals with socks, speedos, fanny packs, ill-fitting clothes, baseball caps, wife beaters and too much jewelry.

Ladies what do you hate seeing men wear the most?

Fellas, what fashion movement do you wish women would let die? Wait, do lacefront's count as fashion?
